Vehicle Lighting equipment is regulated by the federal and state government through FMVSS standard No. 108.
FMVSS No. 108 establishes performance requirements for basic lighting equipment (headlamps, tail lamps, side reflectors, etc.). A state may regulate equipment not covered by FMVSS No. 108 (“auxiliary lamps”).
